BIO
Jake has over 11 years of experience in the commercial real estate industry specializing in retail project leasing, tenant representation, and investment sales throughout Texas and Oklahoma. Jake is known for his creativity, strategic decision-making and “client first” approach.
Prior to joining The Retail Connection, Burns was a Partner at Structure Commercial where he was a consistent top producer. In this role Jake led a project leasing team handling over 2 million square feet of shopping centers for a diversified client base. Through this high-volume project leasing experience, Jake developed a deep understanding of shopping center merchandising.
An expert at structuring leases, Jake has leveraged his experience to help restaurant, entertainment, and retail tenants with strategic expansion plans. Jake’s passion for the business is also highlighted by identifying value-add investment opportunities for developers and investors and using his extensive network of relationships to provide creative solutions for underperforming assets.
Jake is an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and North Texas Association of Realtors (NTCAR). He has received several awards including D CEO Power Broker and CoStar Power Broker. Jake is originally from Oklahoma City, and earned a Legal Studies in Business degree from the A.B. Freeman School at Tulane University with a dual major in History. After moving to Texas, Jake met his wife Ashton who is a Dallas native. Jake enjoys traveling, fitness, live music, and spending time with his wife Ashton and their son River.
