An almost 30-year veteran of the commercial real estate industry, Michael Thum primarily focuses his business activity to retail/restaurant tenant representation and pad sites. Some of those clients include Dunkin’, Burger King, Church’s Fried Chicken, SPENGA, PPG Paints and Cowboy Chicken.

Thum also specializes in regional and national advisory for several well known tenants. For Carter’s and Shoe Carnival, Thum handles the Oklahoma and Arkansas markets. He is also on the team that heads the real estate strategy for The Vitamin Shoppe in the Western US and Visionworks around the country. Thum was personally responsible for the rollout in Detroit, St. Louis and the expansion in Phoenix. The TRC Visionworks team has negotiated over 300 new store leases and renewals nationwide.

Another aspect of Thum’s specialties is the disposition of existing pad site buildings. He was successful in selling several former Burger King’s for the parent company. He is also currently handling 23 former Long John Silver’s throughout Texas.

Thum started his professional career at the Weitzman Group in 1991 after graduating with a finance degree from Tulane University. He just celebrated his 10-year anniversary at The Retail Connection in May 2020. Thum is also very involved with ChainLinks and a member of The International Council of Shopping Centers [ICSC].

Thum has been married to his wife Sherry for 27 years and has three sons.
