John Mathes has twenty-five years of extensive real estate experience. He is one of the industry’s most proficient professionals in the areas of project leasing, tenant representation, acquisition and development boasting high-profile regionally and nationally recognized brands as his top clients.
In addition to his relationships with some of the nation’s foremost retailers, John specializes in land sales, dispositions, financial institutions, and C Store Gas Stations in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. He has represented a number of premier new development sites, land listings, and pad sites. His most notable development is the 750,000 SF Arlington Highlands Shopping Center in Arlington, TX. Arlington Highlands was recognized as The Best New Retail Development in DFW in 2006 by the Dallas Business Journal and was featured at the 2006 Texas ICSC Developers Showcase.
Every year since joining the company, John has achieved the Top Producer Honors at The Retail Connection, including reaching the top Platinum Level [$1,000,000 + in gross production] in 2005, 2007, and 2012. Also reached the top Gold Level in 2006, 2008, and 2013 the Bronze Level every other year. He is also a four-time winner of the “Most Deals” award at TRC.
John was awarded the Top Retail Tenant Representation and Project Leasing Broker Award for DFW by the Dallas Business Journal in 2005. He’s been recognized as a Heavy Hitter by the Dallas Business Journal almost every year since and was a finalist for “Rookie of the Year.”
John currently oversees a project leasing team with a portfolio of more than 3 million square feet of high-profile shopping centers throughout Texas. He also currently owns, operates, manages, and leases a portfolio of 18 properties in 10 states.
John also has been involved in charitable endeavors with Habitat for Humanity, Hosting the S.A.F.E [Safer Arlington for Everyone] events, and The Tarrant County Food Bank Can Food Drive, Cystic Fibrosis, St. Michael’s and All Angels Episcopal Church, The Episcopal School of Dallas, and The Friends of the Levitt Pavilion. He also coaches youth sports and has served on the Boys Sports Committee for the Park Cities Y, as well as serving on the board for the Dad’s Partnership for the Episcopal School of Dallas.
John grew up in Dallas and graduated from St. Marks School of Texas, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Vanderbilt University.
